The author wishes to express his gratitude to the translator for what he has replaced by parodies of his composition, some parodies of English poetry songs, which had value only for English children, and also what he has been able to give in French words the equivalents of English words, whose translation was not possible. Our boat slides on the wave, that sleeps of burning rays. Its slow and vague march only witnesses cute arms full of ardour. But in Cornelius, all proud of this new work, leads to the creed of their caprices, the frames and the governor. Suddenly three cries are heard, honest cries at length, which I could not defend myself by this hot weather that makes me dream. A tale, a tale, they all say, of a common voice. I had to give in to the cruel, what could I, alas, against three? The first, of a supreme tone, gives the order to begin. The second, the very softness, is content to ask things not to believe. We were not interrupted by the third, it is noted, only once per minute, more. Then, silent, the ear pretends to the tale of the dreamer child who goes from wonder to wonder, causing with the bird -causer. Their mind follows the fantasy where the counter is allowed to go, and the truth soon forgets to entrust itself to error. The counter, the chimeric hope, seeks, feeling exhausted, to break the magical power of the charm that it has composed. And soon, this dream will end, the tale begins. No, no, it's soon, no delay, is the judgment pronounced. Thus, from the land of wonders they told each other slowly. The adventures are the same, incident after incident. Then, towards the next ravine where we all had to land, Rama, the joyful crew, the night began to fall. Sweet Alice, accept the offering of these gay children's stories, and weave a garland, as we see to the pilgrims, of these flowers that they have collected, and that later, in the future, although they are, alas, flattered, they cherish as memories.
